Mango Namaste — Indian mangoes: cultivar and season | mangonamaste.com
India records more than 1,000 named mango cultivars, but only 12-15 move in national commerce — and just four of them have season windows fixed in this reference.
The trade runs on a shortlist. The names a buyer meets most often are Alphonso, Kesar, Dasheri, Langra, Chaunsa, Sindhri, Totapuri and Banganapalli, out of a national register of more than 1,000 named cultivars.
Four of these have season windows fixed in the sources behind this reference. Alphonso runs March to June (months 3-6), Kesar May to July (5-7), and Dasheri and Chaunsa both run June to August (6-8).
On narrow screens, swipe or scroll the plate sideways.
For Langra, Sindhri, Totapuri and Banganapalli those same sources fix no month window, so none is printed here; the calendar on this page covers only what is verified, and the same discipline applies to per-variety fruit weights and Brix readings, which the sources do not publish.
On sweetness the page stays equally strict: ripe flesh of sound fruit measures 14-18 °Brix and unripe flesh 8-10, with no verified per-variety Brix figures available. The varieties are therefore ordered by calendar, not by a sweetness crown.
Use the table by month: March and April are Alphonso alone, June and July the widest overlap, August the Dasheri-Chaunsa finish. Once the fruit is chosen, the procedure on 'How to Ripen and Store Mangoes' takes over, and 'How to Cut a Mango and What Is Inside It' covers yield and nutrition.
